Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how Recap ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
Information we collect
- Account information — when you sign in via Apple, Google, Yahoo, email, magic link, or phone, we collect the identifier you provide (email address and/or phone number) and a unique user ID.
- Meeting content — the audio you record is transcribed on your device using Apple's Speech framework. The audio file itself is never uploaded to our servers — only the resulting text transcript is sent to our processing pipeline when you tap Generate.
- Local audio cache — while a recording is in flight, and until the resulting meeting note is successfully saved, a copy of the raw audio is held in a private cache on your device so you can retry transcription if speech recognition drops out. The file lives only in this app's sandbox, is never uploaded, and is automatically deleted as soon as the meeting note is saved. You can also discard a pending recording manually from the Home screen at any time.
- Generated documents — the formatted meeting notes (summary, key topics, decisions, action items, transcript) are stored in your account and visible only to you.
- Email logs — when you tap "Send to email", we log the recipient list (To + CC) and timestamp for audit purposes. We do not retain the email body separately.
- Diagnostic data — if you opt into crash reporting, we collect anonymous crash and performance data via Sentry. No personally identifying content is included.
How we use your information
- To authenticate you and persist your session.
- To process your transcripts via the Anthropic Claude API and return formatted meeting notes.
- To deliver email copies of your meeting notes via Resend, only when you explicitly request it.
- To improve reliability of the app via crash reporting (opt-in).
Data sharing
We share data only with subprocessors required to operate the service:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and serverless function hosting.
- Anthropic — Claude AI for transcript formatting.
- Resend — transactional email delivery (only when you tap Send).
- Sentry — crash and error diagnostics (anonymous).
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your meeting content with advertisers, data brokers, or any party not listed above.
Data retention
- Meetings remain in your account until you delete them or delete your account.
- Email audit logs are retained for the lifetime of the parent meeting.
- Account deletion (Settings → Delete my account) permanently removes your meetings, email logs, and account profile within 30 days.
Your rights
You can:
- View and edit any stored meeting at any time within the app.
- Delete individual meetings.
- Delete your entire account, which wipes all associated data.
- Request a copy of your data by emailing the contact below.
